Blades of grass sealed in ice: a striking example of the transforming power of nature. One day earlier, this was a lawn. Now it is a sea of crystal icicles, each enclosing a single blade of grass. Eighteen hours of freezing rain, ending in light snow, produced this remarkable scene. A few days later, warm weather melted the snow and ice, returning the lawn to its "normal" condition.
