A light snow accents the majesty of this Bur Oak (Quercus macrocarpa). Its common name refers to the fringes on its seed cap, while its Latin name refers to the large size of its acorns. Bur oaks are well-adapted to woodland fringes, edges and open grasslands where their crown can spread and dominate the surrounding area. From 35mm negative.
