A nearly full moon rises over Madeline Island, the largest of the Apostle Islands on the south shore of Lake Superior. One day before the Flower Moon, silvery moonlight limns the clouds and shimmers across the surface of the North Channel. This view, featuring a white spruce in the foreground, is from a campground just north of Bayfield, Wisconsin. From 4x5 transparency.
