A light snow accents the majesty of this Bur Oak (
Quercus macrocarpa). Its common name refers to the fringes on its seed cap, while its Latin name refers to the large size of its acorns. Bur oaks are well-adapted to woodland fringes, edges and open grasslands where their crown can spread and dominate the surrounding area. From 35mm negative.
