Smalley Falls lies upstream of Long Slide Falls, on the North Branch of the Pemebonwon River north of Pembine, WI. Here, volcanic rock forces the cascading water into a narrow chute, with the stream opening up again below the plunge pool. The green of the mosses, ferns and overhanging trees all but shout “Spring!” in the Northwoods. From 4x5 transparency.
