All deer rely heavily on their sense of hearing to distinguish friend from foe. By pivoting their ears, they can zero in on sounds from a particular direction. This herd of Wisconsin White-tails (Odocoileus virginianus) are all looking and listening in the same direction, alerted at the sound of an approaching buck. From 35mm negative.
